Ba batunde Adekeye BABATUNDE ADEKEYE

Babatunde holds the LLB & LLM (Ile - Ife, Nigeria) degrees. He also holds a H.DIP Tax Law from RAU. He was admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria in 1989. He practised in Nigeria for about seven years and was a Senior Associate with G.M. Ibru & Co, a commercial law firm in Lagos. In 1997 he was admitted to practice as an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa. He joined Chuene Kwinana Motsatse Inc. as an Associate in 1998 and later became an Associate Director before leaving to found MHA in 2001.

Babatunde has extensive experience in various aspects of commercial law, including, restructuring of government enterprises, transportation law, telecommunications and information technology law, competition law, insurance, international trade law, labour law, corporate law and finance.

Jackie Huntley JACKIE HUNTLEY

Jackie obtained her BProc and LLB degrees at the University of the Witwatersrand and her M.A.P. at Wits Business School. Jackie joined Gold Fields of South Africa Limited as a Legal Advisor in the Commercial Law department, whereafter she joined Nedcor Bank Limited where she spent 4 years, 3 as a Legal Advisor and 1 year in the Credit Department. 

Jackie served her articles at EFK Tucker Inc. from July 1997 to June 1998. In 1999 Jackie founded Huntley Inc. and in 2006 Huntley Inc. merged with Mukwevho Mkhabela Adekeye Inc. to form MHA.

Jackie has extensive experience in Commercial and Corporate law as well as Telecommunications Law. Jackie has advised many state owned enterprises on corporate governance issues and general compliance with relevant legislation.

Jim Matemane

JIM MATEMANE

Jim obtained a B.Proc degree from the University of the North and an LLB from the University of the Witwatersrand. Jim also has two LLM degrees (Company and Intellectual Property Law, and Communications Law) and is completing a third one (Tax Law)

Jim served his articles at Edward Nathan & Friedland Inc. and thereafter spent three years in the firm’s commercial IT and Telecommunications department. He also worked in Parliament as a senior researcher for the Portfolio Committees on Justice and Constitutional and Provincial Affairs.

Jim has extensive experience in general commercial work including in advising on mergers and acquisitions and the tax aspects thereof; reviewing and negotiating  public private partnerships agreements, advising on compliance with mining laws and lodging of applications for permits, advising on and lodging applications for intellectual property protections including trade mark registration applications, assisting relevant regulatory authorities in assessing competition impacts of proposed mergers and advising on and lodging exemption applications in respect of anti-competitive agreements.

Leslie Mkhabela

LESLIE MKHABELA

Leslie holds the B.Juris and LLB degrees from the University of the North. He served his articles at Gildenhuys Van Der Merwe. After completing his articles he joined Maluleke Msimang & Associates as a professional assistant and was promoted to Partner. In June 2001 Leslie joined MHA as a founding director. Leslie also participates, on an ad hoc basis, in the evaluation of candidate attorneys at the Law Society’s School for Legal Practice in Pretoria.

Leslie has extensive experience in general commercial work including mergers and acquisitions, restructuring of state assets, and  drafting commercial agreements. Leslie has also been involved in a wide range of litigation matters and arbitrations, focusing mainly on Insurance, Administrative Law, Construction Law, Personal Injuries, Aviation Law, Landlord and Tenant Relations, and general Commercial litigation.

Dawn Norton

DAWN NORTON

Dawn Norton has a BA (Hons) LLB degree. In July 2010 she graduated with an LLM degree in Labour Law (with distinction) from Wits.

Dawn was articled at the firm Cheadle Thompson & Haysom Inc. and admitted as an attorney in 1999. Dawn continued practicing at that firm where she developed her substantive and procedural knowledge of labour law. She has extensive experience representing clients particularly in dismissal and unfair labour practice disputes at the CCMA and Labour Court. In March 2006 she joined MHA as Head of the Labour Law Department.

Moleboge Lekwane

MOLEBOGE LEKWANE

Moleboge obtained her LLB degree from the University of North West (Mafikeng) and went on to obtain a Practical Legal Training certificate from the School of Legal Practice in Pretoria.

She served her articles at Bowman Gilfillan Attorneys, where she acquired experience in Competition law, Intellectual Property and Employment law.

After completing her articles, she joined Merck Sharpe & Dohme, a  multinational pharmaceutical company as a Legal Affairs Manager, where her duties entailed drafting and  reviewing commercial contracts and giving advice on compliance issues.

Moleboge joined MHA in July 2007 and was admitted as an attorney in March 2008. She is an Associate at MHA and active in both the Litigation and Commercial Law Departments.

Abigail Ronald Louw

ABIGAIL RONALD-LOUW

Abigail Ronald-Louw obtained her BA and LLB degrees from the University of the Witwatersrand. Abigail was articled at the firm, Moodie and Robertson Attorneys, and was admitted as an Attorney in 2001 and a Notary Public in 2002. In May 2001, she joined the firm, H Miller, Ackermann and Bronstein Attorneys, as an Associate running her own independent commercial litigation practice.

Abigail has experience in commercial litigation and commercial contract law which includes drafting and vetting commercial agreements. As a Notary Public she is involved in the drafting of notarial contracts, bonds and leases.

After 10 years of practising at H Miller, Ackermann and Bronstein Attorneys, she joined MHA in August 2011 as an Associate in their corporate and commercial litigation departments.
